Web Package Hosting – Researching Different Alternatives

May 4, 2008

944376_cat_5.jpg

One of the best ways to find a good web host package is to listen to what others say about companies that provide web hosting. Whether you’re a business owner or an individual, you are likely looking for reliable web hosting at a competitive price. Finding the company that can best meet those needs can be a real challenge. But once you’ve found a company that does provide the service you expect with a price you can afford, you’ll realize that the time you spent doing research in an effort to find a good web host package was time well spent.

Obviously, online sources for web hosting are one of the most convenient ways to search for the service you want. Any search engine will offer plenty of results on how to find a good web host package. If you don’t consider yourself to be computer savvy, you might also want to talk to friends and colleagues who have experience with web hosting and web hosting packages.

For a good list of reviews of web hosting service providers, you might start with a site such as the Web Hosting Inspector site (www.webhostinginspector.com). By following the links to their reviews, you’ll find a list of web host service providers. The reviews on this website are broken into sections with ratings given for each. Even if this site doesn’t include a review of the company you are considering as a web host, you might try using their categories to create a rating system of your own. Comparing bandwidth, web page space, reliability, customer service and speed, along with any factors you personally consider to be important, will help you find a good web host package.

Remember that you are a potential client and any web hosting company should view your questions as important. Whether you know a lot about web hosting or you’re a novice with little idea of how the process works, a company should be able and willing to answer your questions promptly. If the company isn’t able to quickly communicate answers to questions, you should question their ability and willingness to provide reliable customer support once the company has your business. As you consider how to find a good web host package, remember your first impressions.

As you work through the process of finding a good web host package, you should also keep a log of your search. While it will probably be easy at first to remember that you’ve already looked at Company A and discarded them because their customer service seemed weak, or that Company B didn’t offer free set up as part of their web hosting package, it probably won’t take long for the names and your impressions to begin to run together. Keeping track of which company you were and were not excited about following up on should be an exercise requiring paper and pencil (at the very least). Tangible numbers are a good indication of which companies will and will not likely be good web host providers, but remember to include your first impressions of the company as well. Was their website easy to navigate? Did they answer questions? Do they provide other services that you might need in the future? All are good questions to ask as you consider how to find a good web host package.

Having The Best Web Hosting Plan

April 30, 2008

If and when you’re interested in starting a business online, there are a lot of things that you have to study first before you can rightfully expect a high ROI or return on investment.

First, you have to make sure that your company website has a user friendly interface which basically means links are visible, easily located and properly labeled and that the content provided in the website is complete, interesting, effective and grammatically correct.

Secondly, there’s the little matter of search engine optimization or SEO which requires you to employ a number of strategies that your company website is heard and seen by the right people. Common search engine optimization strategies would be keyword listing, site code optimization and top search engine placement.

And of course, we finally come to the main theme of our article: web hosting. No matter how great your website looks or how effective your SEO strategies are, if you don’t have the right web hosting plan, none of those would see the light of the day because your web hosting plan simply prevents them from being properly uploaded and viewed.

Web hosting is integral to your plans if you want your website to have its own niche in the Internet so do read carefully what we’re about to teach you.

You have mainly two choices when it comes to web hosting – you can get it for free or you can spend for it. Naturally, it would be lovely if web hosting would be free for all of us but understand that all the needs of your company website must be met by the free web hosting plan if you want your future to look rosy.

In order to determine whether your company website could do well even with a free web hosting plan, here are some key issues to address.

Are you willing to put up advertisements that may take too much space or would have an irritable effect on your readers? These ads are often required by free web hosting plans because it’s the only reason they can continue letting people enjoy free web hosting.

Are you okay with low bandwidth access and minimal web space? Because of these constrictions, you may not be able to create a website that’s exactly to your liking.

Are you capable of some basic software troubleshooting? Most free web hosting plans do not offer any free live customer support so you might be forced to solve a problem or two on your own when something wrong happens.

If you’re not ready for the situations enumerated above then perhaps it’s better that you go for a post paid web hosting plan so that all your worries would be over.

How About These For Unique Web Hosting Options?

April 28, 2008

Three low or no cost alternatives for web hosting. Build your site and optomize it for high search engine placement automatically. Earn income for hosting with these providers.

How About These For Unique Web Hosting Options? Copyright 2002 by D. A. Bolick (Dear Old Dave) Selecting a web host can be a daunting task, if you have searched this out, you know from whence I speak. There are companies aplenty who will host your site for free, but you are required to carry advertising banners or the like. A site set up in this manner, however, screams to the world wide web that “your business is so lucrative, you can’t even afford to pay for web site hosting.” These are not the opportunities I am speaking of in the title of this article. You can literally pay from 0 to over a $100 plus per month for web hosting. Mind boggling. A friend of a friend is a web designer. She told me she always goes through a particular company for the sites she designs. This Company charges from $25-$90 per month for its different hosting packages. What in the world do they do for you that a $9.00 per month host doesn’t do? Well, I’m not going to get into the details, because they are as confusing as all get out. But, in general to consider, you have band width, email capability, average up time of their servers (your coveted web site server), extensions for Microsoft FrontPage, Unix, Microsoft 2000, SQL, SSL, JHP, PHP, FTP, HTML editing, etc. Trust me, there are all kinds of considerations neither you nor I are going to understand, nor do we need to in all but the most extreme circumstances.

Okay, as promised in the title, here are three web hosting alternatives. I am personally using all of these and can highly recommend them because they all give way more than adequate hosting space (MBS of bandwidth), and to my personal experience and others whose recommendations I value, they are all 99% or better reliable when it comes to up time. Also, their customer service departments are reliable and prompt in answering even newbie questions. ————————————————–

My first choice for web hosting at this point in time is Site Build It!. I am building a new site with it as we speak. Ken Evoy, the creator, is one of the top marketing, web site building and product creation experts on the Web. If you’ve done much surfing along these lines, you have no doubt come across his name.

I actually got started in this business by reading an extensive, free course on creating, naming, building and marketing a theme web site that was authored by Ken. If you’re interested in this area yourself, you can get this FREE course sent to you through email. Go to my main site at http://www.marketbetter.com/newsletter.htm to pick up direct links to all of the products or free courses detailed in this article.

Site Build It! is a comprehensive program that includes domain name registration and web site hosting, but it is so very much more than that. This program of Evoy’s leads you through

1. Brainstorming a theme for your web site that fills a niche, market optimized to bring highly targeted traffic to your site – ones who are specifically looking for your products or services.

2. It leads you through brainstorming the most keyword-effective domain name for your business. Then, it has a program that constantly analyzes the keyword density on all of your pages and suggests ways to optimize them for the highest possible search engine rankings. (Did you know that the best companies who specialize in optimizing search engine rankings for web site owners charge from $1000 to $5000 per year?)

3. All you do to build your sophisticated web pages, is fill in the blanks as Sit Build It’s training tutorial leads you through it.

Do you believe all that this one program does? It’s pretty incredible! It is capable of building web sites so well that many Professional Web Site Designers use it to build sites for their clients. You’ll find, that for a reliable web host and a decent amount of space, you’ll pay on average about $25/month in hosting fees, or $300 a year.

You will pay for domain registration (as high as $35/year) in addition to hosting fees.

An HTML editor such as FrontPage or DreamWeaver costs in excess of $200.

Search optimization? Well, that is just out of the price range for most of us.

Site Build It!’s cost is about the same price per year as just web hosting alone would be. And, it’s easy, and Ken is updating it all the time. And, if you have any questions, there is a really nice lady there who you can email or phone and she will answer them promptly. I highly recommend it. There are many more benefits I have not even detailed here, but you can see them for yourself at Ken’s site. Also, Ken has a great affiliate program which can reduce the cost to you and allow you to make a considerable income for just recommending a product you are going to love to recommend anyway.

You can even get a FREE introduction to Site Build It!, If you want to preview how it works. ————————————————-

Here is another very interesting way to get your site hosted for free. Plus, with this option, there are numerous other benefits. Host 4 Profit offers a 300 MB Business Hosting Package (300 mbs is a ton!) for only $24.95 Per Month. But, that’s not near all there is to this program. You get your Own Plug In Cash Machine Sites Ready To Take Orders. You get an incredible archive of marketing secrets, reports and ebooks to sell with reprint rights. You get a membership in the #1 Direct Marketing Support Forum on the internet! You get $10 per month for each new account you refer! They offer free Bahamas vacations as referral incentives. Need I say more? ————————————————–

Web Carriers hosts my main site, which I built in Microsoft’s FrontPage some time ago, a good HTML editor, but Site Build It! is much more user friendly, and includes so much much more in benefits (web hosting, domain registration, search engine optimization, etc). But, let’s say you have a web site already, and you are either not happy with your present host, or think you might be overpaying. This program may be for you.

You can go to Web Carriers directly for hosting, of course, but if you go to them through a membership in Go4Millions (they say they are the number 1 network marketing program on the internet, I don’t doubt it) you have an option of receiving major benefits for a nominal investment that also includes possibilities for residual profit.

Here is a positive benefit they offer that is worth considering.

Recently, Go4Millions launched its own premiere search engine submission service on the Internet. PlusRank.com is a submission service that G4M’s founder, John Gates, initiated with the webmaster’s economy in mind. With search submission services charging anywhere from $500 to $1,000, currently, getting your site listed on the top search engines is nothing short of a dream for most. Their revolutionary software, however, allows G4M to submit your site by hand to over 200 search engines within 48 hours and re-submit it every 30 days for a fraction of the price any other submission service would charge you.

With this service, they have also worked out a hosting plan for their members that is a major web bargain. Through this partnership agreement, Web Carriers offers 200MB fully featured web hosting to all Go4Millions members at half of their normal price!

Web Carriers has worked extremely well for me, so I can highly recommend it. It has all of the bells and whistles, including FrontPage extensions, a feature not available on most low price hosting services. You need these if you use FrontPage as your HTML editor.

Here is a breakdown that illustrates how much of a bargain G4M’s program is.

Monthly charge for Plus Rank Submission Services: $45/month Monthly Hosting fee for 200 MB from Web Carriers: $35/month Total: $80/month And, through a G4M membership, you get it for only $25 per month. You save $55 each month from here on out. Also, you get a domain name registered for one full year for FREE. (That’s about a $25 value on average.)

As I said earlier, you have to be a Go4Millions member to be eligible. This is a very legitimate MLM, affiliate based program that costs about $50 to join. For your money, you get John Gate’s Marketing Bible, Internet Marketing, Step By Step. This is a beefy manual, and John Gates is an experienced internet marketer, with an ezine, Hidden Secrets, that boasts around 300,000 subscribers. In other words, he knows what he’s talking about. This manual is well worth the Fifty bucks.

Find out exact details, if you are interested, at the URL listed above. As I said, I am personally a member of both. They have my wholehearted endorsement. ————————————————–

Now you have some potential money-making options for the trickier than tricky chore of choosing a web host. Go 4 It And Profit Too! And, don’t EVER be afraid of endorsing a product or program you have laid down your money for, and are satisfied with. That is a ringing endorsement! I trust you feel the same way!

Finding The Right Web Hosting Plan

April 27, 2008

231696_inside_a_rackmount_server.jpg

There are many things to consider when choosing a web hosting plan. The five most important are listed below.

1. Disk Space/Storage

2. Data Transfer

3. Cost

4. Programming Languages

5. Support

1. Disk Space/Storage refers to the amount of space given by a web hosting plan for your web site’s pages, images, and any additional files. Take this into consideration when determining the total number of files you will be using for your website and their sizes. For example, let’s say that among your files you have 100 images which are 50 Kilobytes each in size. This would use up 4.88281 Megabytes of your storage *(100 x 50 Kilobytes = 5000 Kilobytes = 4.88281 Megabytes). If you are planing on creating a website with a lot of video or audio files, you will need a lot of disk space. You can calculate the disk space you will need for your website here.

2. Data Transfer is the monthly amount of outward-bound non-email traffic from your web site, that is allowed by a web hosting plan. Each time a visitor views one of your pages, all the files used to generate the page are calculated into your data transfer. For example, let’s say a visitor views a page that has 50 Kilobytes of text and 200 images at 100 Kilobytes apiece. This page view would use .0191212 Gigabytes of data transfer *{50 Kilobytes + (200 x 100 Kilobytes) = 20050 Kilobytes = 19.58008 Megabytes = .0191212 Gigabytes}. Most web hosting plans’ monthly data transfer allowances are listed in Gigabytes. To calculate your expected monthly data transfer and convert it into Gigabytes, use these calculators.

3. Cost is very important. You want to find a web hosting plan that fits into your budget and not sacrifice your disk space and data transfer. Many web hosts have more than one plan. So, if you outgrow one plan, you can upgrade to another that offers more disk space and data transfer.

4. Programming Languages such as ASP, PHP, Perl/CGI, JSP and ColdFusion are used to create a lot of popular scripts (software) to help your website function. For example, let’s say you find an auction script that is written in PHP and you want to use it on a new domain name you just bought (the-best-auctions-are-here.com). In that case, you want to make sure the web hosting plan supports PHP. Also, if you are planning on selling services or products from your website, make sure the web hosting plan you choose offers some type of ecommerce solution such as a shopping cart for example.

5. Support is really important when choosing a web hosting plan. You should check to see if the web host offers “24 hours a day / 7 days a week” support whether by phone, chat or email.

Important Hosting Plan Features

March 15, 2008

751086_data_highway.jpg

Most Web hosts offer a range of features to attract potential customers to their hosting plans. These features may include disk space, free bandwidth, e-mail boxes, auto responders, FTP access, templates, and more. The customer must then decide which of the available packages best suits their needs.

The first requirement to consider is space. The Web site will require a certain amount of disk space based on the volume of content it will contain, with concern given for potential future growth. If the site is not already designed, a designer should be able to give a specific target range to look for.

The second big requirement is bandwidth. It is absolutely critical to buy sufficient bandwidth to cover the traffic generated by the Web site. In the early years of the Internet there simply wasn’t very much bandwidth available at any price. Today the technology has caught up and some Web hosts offer as much as 1,000 GB of data transfer free each month. Again, the required amount is something a Web designer should be able to predict.

Some Web hosts also offer Web analytics. This very useful service provides an insight into the way a Web site is being used, showing the where the traffic is originating and the pages that are being read. It can even display the amount of time a visitor is spending on the site and the search engines that are sending the traffic. While not usually provided for free, this information is usually considered invaluable to Web site owners.

The disadvantage of this is that the log files used to do traffic analysis take up valuable space. With daily logs, it is possible download and delete them every day, but if monthly logs are preferred it will not be possible to delete them until the end of each month. It’s important to clarify where the Web host will store these files or several megabytes of log files may begin crowding the Web site’s designated storage space as information builds up.

Also check to see where the storage for the e-mail boxes will go. If it will go to the same limited area provided for the Web site a maximum limit for each mailbox should be set. This will prevent incoming mail from causing the site to exceed the storage limit, resulting in an overage fee.

If the Web site is going to be a business site, auto responders should be required. This software allows for visitors who show interest in the site to have and automated reply sent to them. Additionally, the inclusion of forwarding aliases can be useful by allowing email to be sent to a filtering program for sorting prior to final delivery.

Finally, FTP access is another of the things a host absolutely must provide. Very few Web hosts charge for FTP access, since without it hosting of most content becomes very difficult if not impossible.

What Do I Need in a Web Hosting Package?

March 10, 2008

757094_high_speed.jpg

If you are buying web hosting for the first time, you may have some questions about what you need and what you don’t. There are so many hosts offering so many features that it can be hard to figure things out. Here are some of the most commonly offered features you’ll see and more information about each of them: Amount of Web Space — This is definitely an important consideration. A small hosting account might be something like 20MB of space. This is actually more space than many people think it is. To figure out how much space your site will need, simply add the size of each file that will be hosted there. You will often find that even the lower priced hosting plans offer ample space unless your site is very large.

Data Transfer Rate — The data transfer rate refers to how quickly data can be transferred from one place to another. It is almost always measured in seconds. The faster your data transfer rate, the faster it will be to upload and download data to and from your site. This may or may not be an important issue to you, depending on what you are using your site for.

Email Accounts — Most web hosting plans come complete with numerous email accounts for your site to use. You might even come across hosts that offer unlimited email accounts. This is handy if you have a business with different departments. You could have different email addresses for your website administrator, owner, sales and so on. Web mail is common with hosting accounts, which allows you to check your email from any computer with Internet access.

Domain Names — Some web hosts offer a free month of hosting when you buy a domain from them. Others allow you to add on domains to your hosting account which means you can host multiple domains with account. The ability to add sub domains are another feature that you may find offered by many hosts.

Different people have different web hosting needs. It’s a good idea to make a list of the must-have features for your hosting and make sure the providers you consider offer those features. You will often find that the hosting world is quite competitive, which definitely makes it a buyers’ market. It’s easier than ever before to find an affordable host that offers all the features you want and need!

It’s always a good idea to compareweb hosting packages from several web hosts before you decide to buy a package. A great way to learn exactly what you need in a host is to read the Web Hosting Guidebook, a free 30 plus page report available right now athttp://WebsiteHostingDirectory.org/

Web Site Hosting Plan – Key Elements

March 5, 2008

85139_leds.jpg

What are the key elements in a good web host package? The answer to that question depends mainly on the service you expect from the web host provider. To decide what you need, you’ll need to have at least a brief understanding of the typical services and features offered by web hosting companies.

The number of e-mail accounts available might be one of the key elements in a good web host package. If your ability to send and receive e-mail is important, you’ll want to carefully consider whether a particular web host package includes enough e-mail accounts to accommodate that need. Some companies tout unlimited e-mail accounts and depending on your specific needs, this might be a very favorable element of a potential host company. If you are a businessperson, remember that it’s possible your company will grow in the future. While you might need to only establish one or two e-mail accounts now, consider what your future needs could be. It would probably be difficult to change hosts later if you find that you need additional (even unlimited?) e-mail accounts.

Which brings up another of the key elements in a good web host package. If you are establishing a connection with a web host provider for business purposes, consider your provider’s ability to grow with your business. The last thing you want to do is start with a company that will be unable to keep up as your business grows. Changing companies later is always an option, but that transition is not likely to be without problems.

The amount of disk space that will be allotted to your web site is another of the key elements in a good web host package. While it might seem that 30 megabytes is plenty of room, the potential for growth of your company means that you could easily need more space later. If you choose a web hosting provider that simply can’t offer more space, you might find that your growth will be severely limited.

Other issues that can be key elements in a good web host package include the bandwidth, security and speed. Finding a company that provides the best of all these features is likely to be a daunting task, but it is possible.

Price is naturally a key element in a good web host package as well. Prices generally vary only by a few dollars per month and the difference between paying $6.95 per month and $9.95 per month is not likely to play a significant role in the final choice. If the less expensive service provider doesn’t fulfill your needs, you’ll certainly face significant expense and trouble rectifying the situation later.

In the end, deciding which are the key elements in a good web host package will be up to you. If you need large storage space, that becomes an important element. If your needs include larger-than-normal space requirements, that becomes one of the most important elements in a good web host package. The true test of a good web host package is answered with one easy question: “Will this provider adequately meet my needs at a competitive price?”
